DOT shares info on multi-use trail along U.S. 98

Hi Y’all,

On Thursday, Sept. 12, a meeting was sponsored by the FDOT Route 30 (U.S. 98) Trail Project Development and Environment Study. The informative meeting was held in the area of Lanark Village, St. James Island, and St. Teresa (Summer Camp) to discuss the study to identify multi-use trail concepts and assess environmental impacts associated with the addition of a 20.5-mile multi-use trail along U.S. 98.

The intent of this study is to evaluate the potential need for a trail to provide connectivity between the coastal and forest trail system to the north in Wakulla County and to the west in Franklin and Gulf counties. The trail would support a wide range of non-motorized modes of transportation for all users as part of the Capital City to Sea Trail system in Franklin County.

The information was sent to owners of those properties that will be most affected. This may be something that all property owners may want to follow. To learn about future meetings and to get more information, please go to www.nwflroads.com/calendar or call Tori White, FDOT project manager at (888) 638-0250, ext.1455 or email her at tori.white@dot.state.fl.us
