Help celebrate Camp Gordon Johnston Day Saturday

Hi Y’all,

The big news for this coming weekend is the Camp Gordon Johnston Parade in Carrabelle this Saturday, March 8. The parade will start at 10:45 a.m. and is well worth your time.

Why is this event important to Lanark? Check out the Camp Gordon Johnston Museum on Highway 98 across from Carrabelle Beach. The Lanark area was a base for the military during World War II, with the rows of officers’ apartments, which are some of the few last remaining structures still standing. The American Legion Post 82 in Lanark has a historical sign that gives you some of the details. The Legion is very active in the museum, and one of the fundraisers for the museum is the Dice Run held after the parade, which will start at the museum. For more information, go to cgjevents.ticketleap.com/dicerun5 Motorcycles, cars, trucks can all join the fun.

The Legion will not have Burger Night on Friday, March 7. There will be a special event for veterans and their spouses.

The Lanark Village Association held a workshop on the proposed by-laws and the information on Zooming future meetings. These workshops are helpful to the members and the board, gathering information and helpful thoughts from the members.

The LVA will have its second Sunday monthly lunch on March 9, starting at 1 p.m. The community will be honoring longtime resident Aileen Benson. Anyone can join this event.

There will be an LVA members meeting on Monday, March 3, starting at 6:30 p.m.

The Lanark Village Golf Club will have its meeting on March 6, at 6:30 p.m. held at the American Legion. They will be discussing the plans for the St. Patrick’s Day celebration on Saturday, March 15. More information to come on that.

Love Lanark
