Clean-up a hit, now prepare for bears
Hi Y’all,
I finally settled in after some much-needed fun and relaxation.
The Lanark Golf Club will Not have its first Saturday of the month yard sale in April. The club will continue to accept donations. Call or text 850-509-2460 for more information.
The Lanark Village Annual Clean-up was a success. Thanks to the volunteers who came to get the job done, and to the county for their participation in seeing that the Dumpsters were available. The cleanup is only in Lanark Village Proper because of the proximity of the apartments, which were the officers’ quarters for Camp Gordon Johnston during World War II. Joan Matey, a long-time resident of Lanark, realized the need for this event when she was developing her idea for “Making Lanark Beautiful.” As a thank you, the Lanark Village Association served a hot dog meal to the volunteers and members in Chillas Hall.
Just a reminder of the meetings for Lanark’s organizations. Thursday, April 3, the Lanark Village Golf Club’s meeting will be at the American Legion, Post 82 at 6 p.m. ET. Plans for the Easter egg hunt will be discussed. This is not a regular meeting; anyone interested in being involved, please come, whether you are a member or not.
The Lanark Village Association will have its monthly meeting on Monday, April 7 at 6:30 p.m. in Chillas Hall.
The Legion will continue with its regular schedules of taking care of feeding us all. Pizza on Sunday, at 5 p.m., Tastee Tuesday on April 1, gumbo, and on April 8 Sloppy Joes. Hamburger Night starts at 5 p.m. All are welcome.
Just a quick and ongoing reminder, especially to those having short-term rentals. The bears are out, so please have appropriate trash removal. Household garbage can not be put out unless it is in a bearproof can before pick-up day. It should be the owners’ responsibility to advise their renters and make arrangements for the garbage.
Lanark residents might want to learn more about the proposed Planned Unit Development ordinance, which will affect all of Franklin County. More information is available at https://www.franklincountyflorida.com
Love Lanark!
