Spring Fling Dance Saturday at Chillas Hall

Hi Y’all, what a beautiful week we had, and more to come. We are so lucky to live in such a place.

One of the important hubs of Lanark is American Legion Post 82. Lanark, as well as the eastern part of Franklin County, has many veterans. This Legion post is very active in working for the good of its veterans and the community. This past week, the Legion showed their appreciation by Commander Vance Pedrick presenting a plaque to Oyster Radio’s Michael Allen for the station’s support of our Forgotten Coast family of veterans and community.

On Saturday afternoon many Lanark residents turned out to see Joan Matey do her magic with her Fishy Fashion Show. A long-time resident of Lanark, Joan continues to thrill us with her creations and artistic talent. Since 2006 the show has gone on, starting with the first show performed at the Carrabelle River Festival. Joan has been picking up beach trash, with the help of her friends, to create the costumes with fun, crazy names. This year, she added some new fun costumes and a new gun for the sheriff costume. Before she used a toy gun, until a piece of driftwood was found that, to the creative eye, was a gun. The models were great and came from different parts of Franklin County. Lanark is very proud of our creative Joan and the love that she shows for our community.
