Hi Y’all, wishing you a Happy Easter.

Lanark started their Easter celebrations with an annual Easter egg hunt on the Lanark Village Golf Course, sponsored by the LVGC and the Facebook group the Village Idiots. Once again, the course was filled with happy children searching for eggs the volunteers had hidden, and there were plenty of eggs to find. Lt. Lawrence Brannan, with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, started the children off running to find eggs. Thanks go out to the community for supporting this event.

The Lanark Village Association sponsored their annual Spring Fling Dance on Saturday evening. It was the adults’ time to relax and enjoy an evening of music, dancing, skits. and jokesters. DJ Hope provided the music, and as usual she was great. All who came had a great time. Another popular event was a raffle with many great items. The Hall was beautifully decorated, and the food was delicious. The LVA has several events like this one each year, and they would love for you to attend. You don’t have to be a member to enjoy these events.

Lanark Village lost another longtime, beloved member of our community, Christine Ryals Hinton, age 89, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 8. Christine’s husband, David Hinton, had passed away a couple of months earlier, and he too was a vibrant part of the community. Being a talented and devoted quilter, Christine was a member of the Wandering Star Quilting Club in Lanark. Through quilting, she found both expression and community, contributing to local events. A celebration of Christine’s life will be at Harry T. Reid Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 16, with the viewing at 10 a.m. ET and interment to follow at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a school library, quilting group, or local charity in Christine’s memory. Many newcomers may not have known Christine. She and her husband, David, had health issues, and they weren’t as active as they once had been, but you will recognize the name Hinton when you travel east of Lanark Village and pass Hinton Road. Now you know where the road’s name came from. Lanark sends its condolences, prayers, and hugs to her family. Christine was a sweet, gentle person whom I had the pleasure of knowing.

On Friday, April 18, American Legion Post 82 will be having music by John Jeremiah from 6 to 8 p.m., during the regular Burger Night from 5 to 7 p.m.

Often, people want to know if there is going to be an Easter Sunrise Service. There will be Resurrection Day at Old Carrabelle Beach on Easter morning, April 20 at 6:50 a.m.

Love Lanark!
