Forgotten Coast girl tracksters wrap up season

After solid performances at the April 22 district meet in Wewahitchka, all three girls track and field teams from the Forgotten Coast – Wewahitchka, Port St. Joe and Franklin County, completed their seasons in May at the regional meet at Pine Forest, with the top finishers moving on to the state meet in Jacksonville.

Blountstown dominated the district meet, but it was a close contest, with Port St. Joe finishing just behind the Lady Tigers, 226 to 214. Wewa finished third, and Franklin County fifth.

The following, all listed by event, shows how they performed at districts, with their finish and times. Those athletes who advanced to regionals are in bold print.

At the regionals in Pensacola, for Port St Joe, Williams finished ninth in the 800 meters, with a time of 2:38.42, and Trochessett was 17th with a time of 2:49.11. In the 1600 meters, Williams was seventh with a 5:46.12 and Trochessett 15th with a 6:05.77.

In the 100 hurdles, Stewart ran 12th, with an 18.48, and Tannehill 18th with a time of 20.00.

In the 400 hurdles, Partin was 14th with a 1:21.77, Cook 15th with a 1:22.30; and Jenrett 20th with a 1:34.05.

The 4×100 relay team was 15th with a time of 55.09. The 4×400 team was eighth, with a 4:31.14. The 4×800 relay team was ninth, with a 12:10.66.

In the pole vault Patrick was 10th with a 2.25 meter mark; Fosshage 11th a 2.25 meter distance; and Cook 15th with a 2.1 meter vault.

In the triple jump, Hill was second with a 10.7 meter mark, and Partin third with a distance of 10.61.

In the shot put Vauheerden was 11th with a 8.46 meter throw. In the discus Earley was 11th with a 27.36 throw

In the javelin, Vauheerden finished eighth with a throw of 26 meters and Earley 15th with a 22.57 throw.

For Wewa, Myers ran 21st in the 200 meters, with a 32.53 time. Morris was 18th in the 1600 and 12th in the 3200, with times of 6.31.49 and 13.42.28 respectively.

In the 400 hurdles, Rutter was 17th, with a time of 1:25.74.

In the 4×800 relay, the team ran 11th, with a time of 13:49.67.

In the pole vault, Davis was 16th with a mark of 1.95m. Dixon was 18th in the discus with a throw of 22.87 meter, and in the javelin 16th with a throw of 21.38 meters.

For Franklin County, Wolferseder was 13th in the 200, with a time of 27.54. In the 400, Cargill was 17th, with a time of 1:08.76. In the 3200, Paul ran 13th, with a time of 13:55.44.

In the discus Harris threw 22.54 meters to finish 19th and in the javelin she threw 22.57 meters to finish 14th.

At the state meet, for Port St. Joe Partin was 10th in the triple jump, with a mark of 10.84 meters and Hill was 17th, with a 10.22 meter achievement.
