Johnson steps down as Seahawk skipper
Brock Johnson has decided to step down as head coach of the Franklin County Seahawks varsity baseball team.
Superintendent Steve Lanier said he was informed June 4 of Johnson’s decision, which he said was for personal reasons.
“He has to do what’s best for himself,” said Lanier. “I appreciate his effort and hard work. He put a lot of hours into making our program good.”
After an 11-12 season last year, Johnson took the team to a 16-10 record this past season, and a berth in the state playoffs.
“He has the second best record in school history,” said Lanier. “That’s something to be proud of.”
Lanier said the school is now in search of a varsity baseball coach and plans to hire a certified teacher who can also teach. Johnson serves as school resource officer.
