The National Weather Service in Tallahassee has issued a flood watch for portions of Big Bend and Panhandle Florida, including Gulf and Franklin Counties, through the weekend.
The flood watch, which took effect on Thursday, September 8 at 2:56 a.m. EDT, will last through Sunday, September 11 at 8 a.m. EDT.
People in both coastal and inland Franklin County are advised to execute caution, particularly in areas near rivers, creeks streams and other low-lying, flood prone areas.
People in coastal Gulf County are advised to execute similar cautions.
Warnings were also issued for urban areas with poor drainage.
An incoming multi-day storm system is expected to bring heavy rain, creating favorable conditions for flooding and flash flooding, but at this time, the NWS is only asking that residents remain prepared for flooding events. No immediate action is necessary.
Conditions are expected to be especially favorable for flooding from Friday morning to Sunday morning.
This reort will be updated as information becomes available.
