Seahawk harriers post season bests

The Franklin County cross country teams continue to improve, as all the runners at the Aug. 27 Dueling Summits 2022 at Elinor Klapp-Phipps Park in Tallahassee posted season bests.

“We had a solid race,” said coach Anna Bull. “It was a much hillier course with a very competitive field.”

Sophomore Josiah Friddle was the team’s only top 25 finisher. In the 5,000 meters race, he ran a 20:04.20 to finish 23rd.

Junior Reece Juno ran a superb race, slicing a minute-and-a-half off his time from the previous race at the site and this time on a tougher course. He ran a 23:11.30 to finish 88th.

Also on the 5K course junior Rebecca Mahon ran a 36:39.10 to finish 110th, while freshman Seth Thomas ran a 41:56.20 to finish 206th among the high school boys.

Among the middle school runners, who ran a 3,000 meter course, Franklin County had two top 25 finishes, with a close race at the end between seventh grader Bella Polous and eighth grader Addy Paul.

Polous ran a 14:46.30 to finish 18th, three-tenths of a second ahead of eighth grader Addyson Paul, who ran 19th.

Seventh grader Baileigh Dasher ran a 20:50.00 to finish 97th while sixth grader Levi Priddy ran a 19:33.40 to finish 147th among the middle school boys.
