The Franklin County Seahawks put a pair of second-quarter touchdowns on the board Friday night and held off Gainesville St. Francis Catholic the rest of the way for a 14-0 win in their home opener.

After a scoreless first quarter, senior quarterback Evan Stanley connected on an 18-yard passing touchdown to junior Amontaye Austin with 8:15 left in the second quarter, followedby senior Luis Ramirez nailing his first of two extra points, for a 7-0 lead.

With 1:15 left before the half, Stanley scored on a quarterback sneak, and the Seahawks went into the locker room with a 14-0 lead.

The second half was marked by sophomore running back Garyson Millender doing much of the ballhandling, as he led the team in rushing with 10 carries for 99 yards on the night.

Sophomore Ta’marion Carr amassed 60 yards on nine carries, his longest for 19 yards, while Stanley gained 28 yards on five carries, his longest for 12 yards.

Junior Brayden McCall carried the ball twice for 12 yards.

McCall had a good night as punter, booting the ball three times for 102 yards, for a 34-yard average. Millnder averaged 41 yards on his three kickoffs.

At quarterback, Stanley completed 5 of 9 attempts, for 66 yards. Austin caught three of them for 46 yards, while junior Ethen Kembro caught one for 18 yards and senior Mason Moses one for two yards.

Stanley, McCall and junior Alex Sterling each fumbled the ball once.

On the defensive side of the ball, junior Lonnie O’Neal and freshman Eric Smith led the team in tackles, with 13 and 10, respectively.

O’Neal recovered a fumble with about five minutes left in the third quarter, caused by a Millender jolt.
