After Thursday's showers, skies will be partly cloudy all weekend. Looking for a way to honor veterans on Veterans Day or spend time with friends and neighbors?

Veterans Day programming in Gulf County

VFW Veterans Day program

Following a venue change due to Thursday's stormy weather, the John C Gainous VFW Post 10069 and the Willis V Rowan American Legion Post 116 will be hosting their annual Veterans Day program at the VFW post, located at 1776 Trout Avenue in Port St. Joe, on Friday, November 11, 2022 starting at 11:00 a.m. EST.

Picnic and program at Zion Fair Baptist Church

Zion Fair Missionary Baptist Church will be hosting a community picnic and ceremony on Friday, November 11 at 1 p.m. EST during which 20 additional names will be added to the North Port St. Joe Veterans Monument. Free hamburgers and hotdogs will be provided. The church is located at 280 Avenue C in Port St. Joe.

Veterans Day programming in Franklin County

St. George Island program

The St. George Lighthouse Association, in partnership with SGI Veterans Reveille Group and the 106th American Legion in Apalachicola, invites everyone to attend the Veterans Day Ceremony in St. George Lighthouse Park on Friday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. EST.

Wewahitchka Local History Day

Discover Wewahitchka’s rich history through local artifact displays, books and slideshows on Saturday, November 12 at the Wewahitchka public library. Live music, raffles, food and local organization booths will be available for the whole family to enjoy. Local veterans will be recognized in honor of Veteran’s Day.

Farmers Market Saturday In Apalachicola

The Farmers Market in Apalachicola will be this Saturday, Nov. 12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mill Pond Pavilion at the end of Market Street. The market offers local seafood, produce, honey, homemade breads, pies, and other regional specialties every second and fourth Saturday.

Reception Saturday for Dog Island painter

The Gallery at Rio Carrabelle is inviting guests to a Meet the Artist reception with the remarkable painter, Roger Leonard on Saturday, Nov. 12 from 6 to 9 p.m. This exhibition of primarily marine landscapes reflects Leonard’s love of the secret parts of Florida, where he explores places like Dog Island, Indian Pass, Tate’s Hell, Dead Lakes as well as the Everglades. Workshop on lantern making Sunday

In advance of the Crooked River Lighthouse’s annual Lantern Fest, a lantern-making workshop will be this Sunday, Nov. 13 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Cal Allen’s Coastal Art Gallery, 109 SE Ave B, Carrabelle. Participants will learn to make a traditional Filipino Parol, a 3D star lantern, at the workshop led by Aurora Hansen and members of the Filipino American Society of Tallahassee.
