The St. George Lighthouse Association is hosting the first SGI ShrimpFest in the western parking area adjacent to Lighthouse Park on Saturday, May 14.
This family and community-oriented festival starts at 11 a.m. EST. It will be a one-day event offering patrons outdoor musical entertainment, a fairway of games for the children sponsored by the Forgotten Coast Parrothead Club, and the chance to dine on the freshest and most delicious local shrimp dishes.
Musical entertainment includes Hot Mess with JB Babich, Bill Wharton, a.k.a “The Sauce Boss.”
The SGI Shrimp Festival is a fundraiser for the on-going maintenance and enhancement of the St. George Lighthouse, the Keeper’s House Museum and Lighthouse Park.
The Apalachicola Area Historical Society has posted storyboards in front of about 30 homes and businesses in Historic Apalachicola. The storyboards, which will be up until Saturday, May 21, give historical facts and stories of past residents and neighborhood events.
Maps will be available online, on Facebook, and in hard copy format throughout town. Properties cannot be entered, but storyboards will be out in front at all participating locations.

Located at the beautiful Millpond Pavilion at the end of Market Street, the Apalachicola Farmers Market offers local seafood, produce, honey, homemade breads, pies, and other regional specialties every 2nd and 4th Saturday from 9 AM until 1 PM in Apalachicola.
The Forgotten Coast Cruisers will be hosting their annual benefit car show and accompanying low country boil on Saturday, May 14 starting at 9 a.m. EST.
The event will be held at Riverfront Park in Apalachicola.
All proceeds will benefit the Franklin County Schools 2022 Project Graduation.
