Apalachicola’s July 3 fireworks to return

Apalachicola’s Independence Eve celebration in Riverfront Park, cancelled last year due to COVID-19, is coming back.

Apalachicola Main Street said this week that the celebration will be back this summer, although
somewhat scaled back from previous years.

“A plan for COVID precautions is under
development,” said Director Augusta West.

Live music, food trucks, a veterans’ tribute, and the
singing of the National Anthem will be part of the festivities, with fireworks will be launched from a barge on the river, lighting up the night
sky with the area’s biggest pyrotechnics show.

Admission is free, and lawn
chairs and picnic blankets are welcome. For an upscale experience and excellent
seats for the fireworks, reservations can be made for tables on the docks.

“We want to thank the community for their understanding last
year when the event had to be cancelled. We heard from so many people that they
really wanted it to move forward this year,” said Apalachicola Main Street
Board Chair Jim Bachrach, “We look forward to a patriotic and exciting 3rd
of July.”
