Seahawks fall to Malone in regional finals

Franklin County’s post-season  hopes  ended Tuesday night in Jackson County, as the Seahawks fell in the  regionals for the second year in a row to Malone 75-60.

A standing -room only crowd included more than 200 Seahawk fans, as the school quickly ran out of its ticket allotment.

The energy was high,” saiod Morgan Martin, the district’s media specialist. “They pulled ahead and then made sure we didn’t come back.”

Ray Bailey’s 14-14 squad kept it knotted at 16 after the first quarter, and , and trhen jumped ahead 32-25 at the half.



Malone posted a strong third-quarter, outscoring the Seahawks  25-12, and then  put a 24-16 fourth quarter together, for the 15-point win.

Tiger senior Kaleb Wilson led all scored with 35, including four three-pointers. Freshman Jackson Welch added 16, including four three-pointers, while senior Zaccheus Daniels scored 11.

In 2021, in the regional opener at Malone, the Seahawks  lost 53-51 to the Tigers.
