Saturday piano concert to fight against hunger
As a benefit to fight hunger, the First United Methodist Church music ministry will host a concert featuring acclaimed pianist Dominic Muzzi.
The concert, which will raise money for Port St. Joe’s Two Fish Food Market, will be Saturday evening, May 28.
Hailed for his “mastery, precision, and passion,” Muzzi maintains a flourishing career as a concert pianist, having attained over a dozen top prizes and gold medals in domestic and international competitions.
A rising star on the concert circuit, he has performed with orchestra four times in the past season, receiving rave reviews for his poise, flair, and maturity. This season, Muzzi has performed to acclaim in the Florida Panhandle, Indianapolis, Chicago, and New York City,
garnering prizes in three competitions and delivering a world premiere.
Muzzi is a collaborative pianist with the faculty of the DePauw University School of Music, and serves in the U.S. Army as a specialist in the 100th Army Band, stationed at Ft. Knox, Kentucky. He also maintains a successful studio, having prepared students for winning auditions at the
Jacobs School of Music, The Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins, The Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music, The San Francisco Conservatory, the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München, and others.
Muzzi has studied chamber music with renowned artists such as Peter Stumpf, Alex Kerr, and Kevork Mardirossian, and participated in masterclasses and public lessons by Sergei Babayan, Jerome Lowenthal, Alexander Gavrylyuk, Matti Raekallio, Jon Nakamatsu, and others.
He holds a bachelor of music from Florida State University, a master of music from Indiana University and is a doctoral candidate at Indiana University.

David Adlerstein, The Apalachicola Times’ digital editor, started with the news outlet in January 2002 as a reporter.
Prior to then, David Adlerstein began as a newspaperman with a small Boston weekly, after graduating magna cum laude from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. He later edited the weekly Bellville Times, and as business reporter for the daily Marion Star, both not far from his hometown of Columbus, Ohio.
In 1995, he moved to South Florida, and worked as a business reporter and editor of Medical Business newspaper. In Jan. 2002, he began with the Apalachicola Times, first as reporter and later as editor, and in Oct. 2020, also began editing the Port St. Joe Star.
