Jay blanks Seahawks 37-0

A double rainbow appeared in the drizzle during Friday night’s game against Jay.

But there was no pot of gold at the end for the Franklin County Seahawks, as they fell 37-0 to the Royals.

The Seahawks were without coach Dirk Strunk, who was tossed out of the Vernon game two weeks ago. He was then handed a two-game suspension and a $400 fine by the Florida High School Athletic Association.

Superintendent Steve Lanier said the problem occurred when Strunk was questioning a call and an official threw a flag. Strunk then picked up the flag, in defiance of the official’s request that he not pick up the flag.

At Friday’s game, Jay scored two touchdowns in each of the first two quarters, including a kickoff return in the first eight seconds of the game.

The Seahawks trailed 27-0 at the half, and gave up a score in the third quarter and a field goal in the final stanza to account for the loss.
