LVA to vote on board members Monday

Hi Y’all,

I hope that all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. The American Legion Thanksgiving Eve Dinner went very well and was well attended. Thank you for all you do.

Thanksgiving in Lanark was great and well-attended. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped make it a success. Turkeys were donated by past County Commissioner Bert Boldt for this community dinner.

Chillas Hall will have Bingo on every Wednesday with doors open at 6 p.m. Come and join the fun. Thirsty Thursday will be every Thursday starting at 5 p.m. with eating at 6 p.m.



On Saturday, Dec. 3 there will be a training meeting for Firefighters Only All who can fight fires, please come or contact Mr. Robert Amick, St. James/Lanark Village Fire Department coordinator, rsamick4@yahoo.com. Those of you who have been contacted already know about being there concerning Dec. 3.

The Lanark Village Association will be having their monthly meeting at Chillas Hall on Monday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. There will be voting of new board members which needs a quorum of the membership of this association in order to have the voting legal. The ballot will include positions available of treasurer and secretary, which are voted on each year, and two vacant governors’ seats. The board consist of five governors. Governors are voted in for three years and there is no limit on how long they can serve. After three years, if someone else wants to be on the board they can be nominated. Nominations for the two vacant seats are Bobbie Trinket, an appointed board member and Ways and Means chairperson; Mike Salyer, the LVA’s boat storage Manager; and Debi Jay Jordan.

The bear sightings are getting more frequent in the Village. BE BEAR WISE, Get Help, Report Conflicts, Know the Laws, 850-265-3676 and www.myfwc.com/bear. They are out there. Short-term, renters and owners, please advise your guests to secure garbage and be sure to supply a secure place for garbage.

David Adlerstein, The Apalachicola Times’ digital editor, started with the news outlet in January 2002 as a reporter.

Prior to then, David Adlerstein began as a newspaperman with a small Boston weekly, after graduating magna cum laude from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. He later edited the weekly Bellville Times, and as business reporter for the daily Marion Star, both not far from his hometown of Columbus, Ohio.

In 1995, he moved to South Florida, and worked as a business reporter and editor of Medical Business newspaper. In Jan. 2002, he began with the Apalachicola Times, first as reporter and later as editor, and in Oct. 2020, also began editing the Port St. Joe Star.
