It’s going to be a busy weekend in Gulf and Franklin Counties.
Butts and Clucks Friday and Saturday
The Butts and Clucks Cook-off on the Bay kicks off Friday at noon at Battery Park. People’s Choice tickets, which entitle holders to sample some of the 50 team entries, will be on sale. Food vendors will be open from noon to 5 p.m. Friday and all day Saturday.
John Solomon, director of the Apalachicola Bay Chamber of Commerce, said Saturday’s event begins at 10 a.m. and runs until 5:30 p.m. when winners of the Florida Barbecue Association-sanctioned event will be announced. A deviled egg contest, open to everyone for a $5 entry fee, will begin at 4 p.m. The Food Network will be on hand to film an episode of an upcoming series to air in July.

The Carrabelle History Museum presents a free program “The Battle of Natural Bridge,” featuring historian and author Dale Cox on Saturday, Jan. 21 from 10 a.m. to noon in the upstairs room at C-Quarters Marina, 501 St. James Ave.
Carrabelle’s Country Market Saturday
The Crooked River Lighthouse continues its Country Farmer’s Market on Saturday, Jan. 21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lighthouse Park, 1975 Hwy 98 West, Carrabelle. Music slated for MLK celebration

Meet the Editor
David Adlerstein, The Apalachicola Times’ digital editor, started with the news outlet in January 2002 as a reporter.
Prior to then, David Adlerstein began as a newspaperman with a small Boston weekly, after graduating magna cum laude from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. He later edited the weekly Bellville Times, and as business reporter for the daily Marion Star, both not far from his hometown of Columbus, Ohio.
In 1995, he moved to South Florida, and worked as a business reporter and editor of Medical Business newspaper. In Jan. 2002, he began with the Apalachicola Times, first as reporter and later as editor, and in Oct. 2020, also began editing the Port St. Joe Star.
