Live music Friday in downtown Carrabelle

The Downtown Carrabelle business community has joined forces with Rio Carrabelle Art Gallery to host the next First Friday event from 5 to 8 p.m. on March 1 in Carrabelle.

This month both Rio Carrabelle and Taste of Korea will host live music. Taste of Korea will feature Gene Zone and Rio Carrabelle will host live jazz by Darryl Tookes, a singer, composer, pianist, poet, arranger, and director of FAMU Music Industry Studies Director, who brings over two decades of experience to the stage.

The streets and businesses of Carrabelle will be alive with music, after-hours shopping, refreshments, art, food, conversation, specials and fun.

Other businesses slated to take part are Bubble Waffle Factory, C-Quarters Marina, Carrabelle Dive Shop, Carrabelle Junction, Fathom’s Steamroom and Raw Bar, Gina’s Flowers and Such, Harry’s Bar, Marine Street Grill, Marine Street Mercantile, Mornin’ Bite, Pirate Girl’s Treasures, Rock and Soul Studio and Shop by the Sea.



Rio Carrabelle Art Gallery is at 102 St. James Ave (Hwy 98), and Taste of Korea, a Korean restaurant is at 103 St. James Ave.

David Adlerstein, The Apalachicola Times’ digital editor, started with the news outlet in January 2002 as a reporter.

Prior to then, David Adlerstein began as a newspaperman with a small Boston weekly, after graduating magna cum laude from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. He later edited the weekly Bellville Times, and as business reporter for the daily Marion Star, both not far from his hometown of Columbus, Ohio.

In 1995, he moved to South Florida, and worked as a business reporter and editor of Medical Business newspaper. In Jan. 2002, he began with the Apalachicola Times, first as reporter and later as editor, and in Oct. 2020, also began editing the Port St. Joe Star.
