Lots of Halloween fun planned
Hi Y’all,
I want to refresh you on the up-and-coming events in Lanark. I have been traveling but I will be home for all these great events.
On Monday, Oct. 21 at Chillas Hall starting at 6:30 p.m. ET there will be a civic meeting with local leaders to discuss matters that concern our Lanark area and Franklin County. This is a good opportunity to hear answers to your questions.
On Saturday, Oct. 26 the Lanark Village Golf Club and The Village Idiot Group will sponsor a Halloween Trunk or Treat, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. handing out candy from decorated vehicles and golf carts. There will also be games for the children. Candy donations are appreciated.
The St. James/Lanark Volunteer Fire Department will also be giving out candy and giving the children tours of the firehouse and the fire trucks. Afterwards, the Lanark Village Golf Club will have a golf cart parade starting at 4:30 p.m. The decorated golf carts will proceed to the American Legion where the carts will be judged. Afterward, there will be a fun-filled night of “Spookyoke” with DJ Hope playing lots of fun music.
On Sunday, Oct. 27 the Lanark Village Association will have a covered dish to celebrate the reveal of a mural for Gene Sewell Park at 1 p.m. This unveiling is a very special occasion revealing a beautiful creation of a portrait of Lanark’s first Queen, Gene Sewell, chosen in 2006, along with images depicting all of the organizations and special icons that make up the village. Longtime resident Joan Matey created this beautiful piece of art and along with resident artist Barbara Ryan has made it a reality. Please join us for this special event. Bring a covered dish to share. Donations to the making of the mural are appreciated.
On Thursday, Oct. 31 the Lanark Village Association will have a Halloween Dance Party to replace Thirsty Thursday at Chillas Hall, starting at 7 p.m. DJ James will be playing some fun music for us. Bring a snack to share and BYOB. Wear a costume if you dare! You don’t have to be a member to join the fun. A donation is $5.
Special events that Lanark residents and organizations participate in include on Saturday, Oct. 26, the Carrabelle Senior Center Fall Fest fundraiser will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lots of activities will be going on. Many Lanark resident quilters and artists will be participating. For more information. text or call Lori Overcash at 850-520-1382 or email LOverstreet@live.com
