‘Cases of Love’ donated to Hurricane Helene victims
The community service mission of Lanark Village Wandering Star Quilters has been to support a need within Franklin County. This time, however, it was to support residents in Taylor County who were devastated by the Category 4 Hurricane Helene on Sept. 26.
Franklin County Sheriff A.J. Smith referred the guild to Pastor Davy Cannon with Friendship Chapel Church of God in Steinhatchee for distribution.
In the spirit of sharing and caring, Project ‘Cases of Love’ produced over 100 handsewn pillowcases in one week with help from the Wakulla Quilters in Crawfordville.
The Franklin County Public Library donated 62 Summer Reading Program bags filled with puzzles, games and crayons. Added to these bags were a fleece throw, a pillowcase made with fun fabrics, and a fruit snack.
On Friday, Oct. 18 a delivery was made to Cannon including a total of 93 fleece throws, pillowcases, peanut butter and jelly, and a large box of gloves, hats, scarves, and socks donated by guild members.
The needs are many and will continue for this devastated area.
Monetary donations for Hurricane Helene Relief can be made to Franklin County Sheriff’s Charity Fund through the website: www.franklinsheriff.com/charity-fund
