Seahawks head to playoffs after Aucilla loss
The Franklin County Seahawks closed out their regular season at 6-4 on Halloween night, putting a scare into the undefeated Aucilla Christian Warriors with two first quarter touchdowns before succumbing 28-12.
The Seahawks, hoping to earn a record seven wins, were preparing to enter the locker room with a 12-0 lead, after two scoring drives led to rushing touchdowns, by senior Ajaylen McNair and junior Owen Juno.
But an interception would give the Warriors a chance to score before the half,
With a minute left in the third, it was still anybody’s game, until a recovered fumble led to a Warrior touchdown. The Seahawks thwarted the two-point conversion and the score was 12-all going into the last quarter.
But two Aucilla scores, plus a two-point conversion, preserved the Warriors undefeated record.
The loss put a disappointing end to a heady week for the Seahawks, in which coach John Cooper was named District 2 Coach of the Year, and junior defensive end Ja’michael Miller, senior defensive lineman Sheldon James, senior running back Ajaylen McNair, defensive back Tamarion Carr, senior fullback Michael Hill and junior linebacker Eric Smith were all named to the Florida Athletic Coach Association’s All District 2 team.
