Local organizations need support to vote in boards

Hi Y’all:

Things are getting busy around Lanark and not many snowbirds have returned yet.

The Lanark Village Boat Club Pancake Breakfast was a great success. This is an event that you will want to put on your calendar for every third Saturday of each month.

The American Legion has started DJ Hope’s Karaoke. That is also the third Saturday of each month.

On Tuesday, Nov. 12 the Lanark Village Association had its monthly meeting. The association is working on nominees for the LVA board. On Monday, Dec. 2 the new board will be voted in. It is so important for LVA members to come to this meeting. Caring about what happens in the Lanark area is part of the charm of living here. However, if you don’t participate in the meetings, a new board can’t even be voted in. Only members joining for 2024 by Oct. 7 are eligible to vote. The association needs a quorum, or a vote can’t be taken.

The other organizations in Lanark, the Lanark Village Boat Club and the Lanark Village Golf Club will also be voting in new boards. Members only will be allowed to vote. If you are a member of any of these organizations, please Vote.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office has joined with Lanark and Carrabelle organizations and clubs to collect Christmas gifts for children. Boxes are available in Lanark at the American Legion on Oak Street, and in Chillas Hall on Heffernan. Please contribute early so they can have the giveaway before Christmas. Bring new unwrapped toys for all ages.

During the week of Thanksgiving, Tuesday Games, Wednesday Bingo, and Wandering Stars Quilters all will be canceled because we will be preparing for the Thanksgiving dinner. This dinner will be for Lanark area residents. You need to sign up at Chillas Hall before the dinner. Chillas is open Monday through Friday, 9 to 11 a.m. ET. Have a friend or neighbor sign you up if you can’t do it yourself.

With good food and Thanksgiving, the bears know there is going to be some good eating. Please be extra careful with your garbage. Garbage must be in a secure can and preferably put out on the morning of garbage pickup, which is Monday or Tuesday in Lanark.

For the holiday, Lanark will probably have more guests in the area. Please remember in Lanark Village it is an ordinance that no boats, trailers, or RVs are to park on the Franklin County right-of-way, which is the area beside the roads. This pertains to Lanark Village Proper (the apartments). Thank you.

Love Lanark
