Yard sale Saturday at golf club
Hi Y’all, I hope that all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
On the night before Thanksgiving, Camp Gordon Johnston American Legion Post 82 served their members and the members’ immediate families. It was a wonderful night with good food, and great music by John Jeremiah. The community of Lanark is so lucky to have an active Legion. They also filled up a box for the Sheriff’s Christmas Toy Drive.
Thanksgiving was a really good day for Lanark Village. The Lanark Village Association sponsored a Thanksgiving dinner for about 90 people. Those of us who participated in organizing this event were thrilled to have so many of our friends, neighbors, and new friends join us for this event. The attendees brought some wonderful, covered dishes to go along with the traditional turkeys that County Commissioner Cheryl Sanders donated to the dinner and the ham that the Lanark Village Association (LVA) donated. This event was open to the community, as most of this organization’s events are.
The Lanark Village Wandering Stars Quilters had their second annual Christmas Bazaar on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. These ladies know how to have a bazaar. There were a variety of vendors, mostly from the Lanark area, for your shopping delight. The soup and sandwiches were excellent.
All of the weekly and monthly events in Lanark will be the same as before until Christmas week.
The LVA will have its members’ meeting on Monday, Dec. 2 at Chillas Hall, starting at 6:30 p.m. This is an important meeting for the LVA; it is time to vote for a new board for 2025. In order to have a vote, the LVA must have a quorum of members. Please come to the meeting on time as the vote will take place at the beginning of the meeting. Also, please consider the candidates carefully, these are the people who will be making many decisions that will affect the Lanark community.
On Saturday, Dec. 7 the Lanark Village Golf Club will have its monthly yard sale in the parking lot on Heffernan across from Chillas Hall. They will have many items, so come do some Christmas shopping. Please bring donations that you might have (not clothes). The sale will be from 8:30 a.m. to noon.
For members only, the Lanark Village Boat Club will have its members’ Christmas Party at the boat club. Heavy hors d’oeuvres and drinks will be served. All you need to bring is yourself.
Please remember that according to the Franklin County S-4 ordinances for Lanark Village Proper, there are to be no boats, trailers, campers, or RV vehicles (of a certain length) parked on the rights of way of the roads in Lanark Village (the apartments). The Lanark rights of way are already crowded, causing potential danger.
Love Lanark
