Chillas to open for Christmas Day covered dish
Hi Y’all,
I forgot to ask Santa for warm weather and look what I got. What I did get instead was warm hearts and warm hugs being with my family. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all.
Being in Lanark means to me being able to reach out to all types of people with helping hands, all in one beautiful package. Having enjoyed Thanksgiving with my friends and neighbors, Lanark was already preparing for Christmas with their plans for events and the boxes to gather toys for the sheriff’s department toy box. Boxes were placed in Chillas Hall and the American Legion for all of Lanark to participate in “Jingle at the Jail. The St. James/Lanark Fire Department participation was a big hit with the children and the adults too.
American Legion Post 82, with the Riders and the Auxiliary, started finalizing plans for their annual veterans Christmas Party at Arrabella (previously St. James Nursing and Rehabilitation) by getting a “Santa’s list” from each veteran. Oh, what fun it was to see Santa ride up on his reindeer motorcycle. The Franklin County High School Cadet Core was there to grill hamburgers for the veterans, which really pleased the veterans. This event is so heartwarming with the veterans being so sweet and enjoying the day so much. Thanks to the Legion for making this happen.
The Lanark Village Association will be opening Chillas Hall on Christmas Day at 12:30 p.m. for the community who would like to bring their covered dish (serving eight to 12 people) to join their friends and neighbors. You must sign up at Chillas Hall before the event. This is an informal gathering for the Lanark area.
The Legion will have a New Year’s Party with the food truck, Wok N’Roll Tacos and music by “Sticky Tim” from 5 to 8 p.m. ET.
Also, on New Year’s Eve, the LVA will have an “open house from 7 p.m. to midnight, BYO, and bring snacks to share. This event is a gathering for those who want to do something on New Year’s Eve without going too far. Come for fun, friends, and neighbors to celebrate 2025.
Lanark is having serious problems with the people in our area feeding the bears, by leaving garbage unsecured. If you don’t have a really good, locking can, please put your garbage out on your garbage day.
Love Lanark
