Doris Viola Johnson

Date of Death

Doris V. Johnson, age 86, of 1455 N County Hwy 393, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, went to be with our Lord and Savior on November 26, 2023, 6:23am at Sacred Heart of the Emerald Coast.

Doris was born on October 18, 1937, in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. Doris grew up and lived most of her life between Santa Rosa Beach and Apalachicola, Florida. She moved from Apalachicola to Port St. Joe in 1975, where she lived until after receiving her liver and kidney transplants from Mayo Clinic on October 2, 2011. A short time after her double transplant, she moved back to Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, to live with a daughter and son-in-law, where she stayed until her passing. Doris was the most hard-working and loving mother that not only raised her own biological children, but also helped raise her stepchildren. Doris lived her life taking care of her children and providing each one with the love, compassion, and direction to sadly one day move forward in this life without her. Doris worked throughout her young life to help provide for her children. She shucked oysters, picked crabs, worked retail, waitressed, and later volunteered her time sitting with various patients at the hospital in Port St. Joe. She was an amazing woman that had a smile to light up an entire room and a laughter that was so pure. Doris deeply enjoyed spending time with her children and found great pride in each of their accomplishments. Doris had many talents over the years and enjoyed crocheting, ceramics, gardening and mod-podge. Doris had an amazing ‘green thumb’ and could grow such beautiful roses, trees, and plants. Doris was always dressed to perfection upon rising every day. She cherished her close friends and companions with multiple daily phone calls to discuss life and upcoming events. There will be a large and empty hole for all that knew and loved Doris.
