La Vera “Sissy” Mae Barr, 76, of Moundsville, WV passed away Thursday, September 19, 2024 with her family by her side.

Sissy was born July 29, 1948 in Wetzel County, WV a daughter to the late Russell “Carl” and Norma Lee (Stoneking) Barr. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, James E. Barr.

La Vera is survived by two daughters; Elizabeth (Harold) Smith of Monocks Corner, SC, Diana (Chuck) Haynes of Proctor, WV. Three sisters; Sarah (Steve) Pettit of Moundsville, WV, Debra (Mike) Shuman of Lehigh Acres, FL and Mary “Mangy” Bob Haught of Pine Grove, WV, grandchildren; Amy Puzerewski, Ryan Puzerewski, Lyubov (Chris) Wagner of Bonneau Beach, SC, and Heidi Haynes of Pittsburgh, PA as well as La Vera’s loving puppy, Poppy and serveral nieces and nephews.

La Vera was a proud resident of Wesley Park Community where she met and loved her besties; Sally, Shirley, Ola and Linda along with many others. La Vera spent many years in Carrabelle, FL, a place she loved and longed to return to.

La Vera’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has offered support during the last several months of her illness. She will forever be missed and remembered.

At her request, there will be no public services. La Vera’s care has been entrusted to Altmeyer Funeral Home, Moundsville, WV.
