Margaret Cleveland Lenhart

Age 93, passed away surrounded by her family on April 27, 2024 at Big Bend Hospice House in Tallahassee, FL. She will be so missed and hold a forever place in our hearts.

Margaret was born on December 27, 1930. She was adopted by her loving parents Guy and Zellia Cleveland. She grew up in Minneapolis, MN and was married to Donald Douglass Lenhart on June 6, 1952. They were both graduates of the University of Minnesota where she received her AA degree.

Margaret and Donald raised 4 children while living in New York (1952-58) and California (1958-84). They retired in 1984 and moved back to Tower, MN to build their dream home on Lake Vermilion. In 1998, they moved to St. Louis, MO to enjoy shorter Winters and to be closer to their eldest daughter Linda and her family. In 2019, 13 years after her husband passed away, she moved to Apalachicola, FL to live with her eldest son Richard.

Margaret loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed baking, gardening, playing cards, knitting, fishing trips to Canada, swimming, watching baseball & football, spending time at the beach and International travel. She especially enjoyed European Christmas Market tours and Caribbean cruises.

She was a member of P.E.O. for 73 years and her chapter will truly miss her.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Guy and Zellia Cleveland, her brother Guy (Ellie), and husband Donald Lenhart. She is survived by her children Linda (Bob) Gates, Deborah (Ted) Ruffner, Richard Lenhart, Donald (Wendy) Lenhart Jr., grandchildren Donald Lenhart III, John (Stephanie) Gates, Gemma (Ryan) Knapp, Brianna (Jeff) Luten, and great grandchild Nash Luten.

There will be a private celebration of life at a later date at Lake Vermilion, MN. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to P.E.O. – PCE Treasury Department Executive Office, 3700 Grand Ave., Des Moines, Iowa 50312.
