Muriel Chesnut Bryan, 94, of 141 Kaelyn Lane, Port St. Joe, FL, previously Panama City, FL, died September 16, 2023, after a long illness.

Mrs. Bryan retired after 32 years, as a Program Specialist, with the Florida Department of Children and Family Services . She also served as an Assistant Professor at Florida State University and Florida A & M University.

She was also a long-standing member of First United Methodist Church of Panama City, FL.

Mrs. Bryan was predeceased by her parents, Grace Braford, William T. Chesnut, as well by her husband, R L Bryan. She is survived by her daughters,

Carolyn C. Dudley (Bill) of Tallahassee, FL Susan C Barnes (Ron) of Flowery Branch, GA ,and Grace E. Vaughn (Hoyt) of Apalachicola, FL, two stepchildren,

Dr. Lawson Bryan (Sherrill) and Dr. Tami Shelly (Jeff), six grandchildren, three step grandchildren, five great grandchildren and six step great grandchildren.

Other relatives include two brothers, William T Chesnut (Joyce) of Gainesville, FL and Wesley Chesnut (Ann) of Chattanooga, TN , plus a number of nieces and nephews.

Memorialization will be by cremation with Gulf Coast Crematory, Kent Forest Memorial . Church Memorial Services will be performed at 2:00, October 7, 2023, by Dr. Jeremy Pridgeon and Rev. Carl Fountain of First United Methodist Church, 822 East Hwy 98, Panama City, Florida. Visitation will be held for family and friends at 1:00 pm.
