William Cooper

Date of Death

My brother and friend, William Cooper, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2024. Born on October 27, 1957 in Panama City but raised in Apalachicola. William’s life spanned a time that saw him wear many hats. He was a soldier, a trucker, a boat captain, a master carpenter, as well as many other jobs throughout his life. After his service in the U.S. Army’s 1st Battalion 6th Infantry in Illesheim, Germany, William made his home in Robertsdale, Alabama. He could not ignore the calls of the rivers and bays that he loved so much, so he returned to his home, Apalachicola. As a master carpenter, he touched the lives of many of those he worked for, always eager to teach, and share his knowledge of a vast variety of subjects. William will always be remembered as a person that would give you the shirt off his back and ask for nothing in return. He will be truly missed by all that knew him. As per his wishes, his ashes will be scattered on Apalachicola Bay, where he will join his departed mother, Peggy Cooper, and brother Robert Cooper. Honorary Pallbearers will be James (Skip) Cooper, Charles Fasbenber, Ronnie Wilson, Chet Rowland, Eddie Joe Lindsey, and Hall Bryant. A celebration of his life is planned in the near future. May his soul rest in peace forever.
