Get ready for Amnesty Day July 24

Hi Y’all,

 Thank goodness that
we missed the bullet with this last hurricane. Each time we are threatened by a
hurricane, some of us start looking for our re-entry Tag or say “Oh shot, I
really need to get one of those!” Yes you do. Without it you will not be able
to re-enter Franklin County. Here is some information that might be helpful and

Please check with you elderly neighbors and your new
neighbors to make sure that they have this information.

The Lanark Village Boat Club will have their monthly pancake
breakfast on Saturday, July 17. Come on out from 9 to 11 a.m. for a great $5
donation breakfast and lots of visiting with your friends and meeting new
friends. This event will be every third Saturday of each month.

The Franklin County Library is a wonderful source of
knowledge, entertainment and events. I have been asked to let you know about
those that you might be interested in.

Eastpoint Branch, Wednesday, July 21, Writers forum at 1 p.m.,
and Friday, July 23, Medicare Counseling from 10 a.m. to noon. Free.

Carrabelle Branch: Tuesday, July 20, Adult Meditative
Coloring at 10:30 a.m., and Friday, July 16, Movie Matinee at 1:30 p.m. for you
and your children or grandchildren. Featured film is “Dolittle.”

The quilters are at it again every Thursday at 1 p.m. They
meet at Chillas Hall and welcome new people. It really does not matter what
level of quilting that you are, even if you would like to stop by and see what
they have to offer.

Start gathering up you unwanted items to get ready for the
Franklin County Amnesty Day this month on Saturday, July 24. Operating times
are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For any questions that you might have, call 670-8167. Most
of Lanark has limited space for unwanted items. Please don’t throw it in the
woods, pile it in your yard or certainly don’t drop it off at the building
across from Chillas Hall.

 For all newcomers and
owners of rentals, please educate yourself of your responsibility for garbage. Do
Not Feed The Bears! They are out there, even in the daytime. I saw one walk by
my apartment at 12:30 p.m. this week. Thank you.

Just a quick note for those of you who live in the
apartments of Lanark Village, you cannot put a fence that blocks parking on county
right-of-way and certainly not post any “No Parking” signs. You also can’t put
cones or other articles to block parking on county right-of-way. Please do not
block residents from their parking to accommodate short term rentals.

 Reminders:

 The Coffee Time is
still going strong on Monday through Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. at Chillas Hall. On
Thursdays, the representative of the Veterans Administration will be there to
answer any of your questions. Coffee is free on Thursdays, compliments of the veterans
representative.

The American Legion has their cheeseburger/hamburger night.
They will be serving these wonderful burgers on Friday nights 5 to 7 p.m. If
you want to call ahead, call 850-697-9998. The dining and bar areas are now
open; the public is invited. On Sunday evenings, also from 5 to 7 p.m. they
serve pizza.

The Lanark Village Golf Club is always open for your fun,
easy-going golfing needs. We are the only course on the bay, and you can come
spend the day for only $5 per person, and anyone can join for only $50 a year. Also,
we rent our sign out for special messages, such as birthdays, anniversaries,
weddings, etc.

There is Trivia at the Crooked River Grill on Tuesday
evening at 6 p.m. Many of our Lanark people enjoy this activity. Also, The
Crooked River Grill at St. James Bay Golf Resort off Highway 98, east of Lanark
Village, invites you to enjoy live music at their new outdoor pavilion on
Saturdays at 6 p.m.
