Fire department still looking for volunteers
Hi Y’all, Happy Fall:
This past weekend was certainly a busy one. The Lanark Village Boat Club had their regular third Saturday of the month breakfast. They served approximately 80 people a wonderful breakfast. The public is always welcome and with a $7 donation you can’t beat it.
There was a memorial service for Mike Mobley, a longtime resident of Lanark Village, who passed away in August 2022. Mike’s father, Alfred Mobley, had passed away near the same time. Losing both Mike and his father was even a heavier heartache to bear for this large, loving family. Resident Sue Miller, Mike’s family, also has lived in Lanark and is the reason that he ended up here. Mike was a wonderful friend, neighbor always willing to help when he could. He will be missed by those who knew him.
The American Legion Post 82 had a fun-filled “Scary-Karaoke Halloween” party on Saturday. The Low Country Boil was really good, thanks to the amazing cooking by all of those involved in that hot job and the Karaoke, with DJ Greg K, was fun as usual amidst the amazing decorations which were created by some of the talented members. The American Legion Post 82 hosted about 30 or so Riders from the Panama City-area American Legion. Thank you for such a fun night.
Thirsty Thursday, replacing “Wind Down Wednesday,” was a success and will be continued at this time. This week will be Pizza Night, so bring something that goes along with pizza.
The Lanark Village Golf Club had their meeting last week to discuss having a tournament on Oct. 29 at 10 a.m. Watch for postings,or call Nola at 850-528-7662 for more information.
The St. James Lanark Volunteer Fire Department still needs volunteers. You may contact Robert Amick, rsamick4@yahoo.com or Eric Grajales, 407.757.6997 to sign up.
Don’t forget – The Lanark Village Association will have their Halloween Party, YAY! at Chillas Hall and we will start at 7:30 p.m. Donation of $7 at the door. Wear your costume or come as you are.
BE BEAR WISE, Get Help, Report Conflicts, Know the Laws, 850-265-3676 and www.myfwc.com/bear. They are out there. Short term renters owners, please advise your guests to secure garbage and you be sure to supply a secure place for garbage. We don’t want it spread all over Lanark. Thank You.
Love Lanark
