It’s the first full weekend of the new year! There will be lots going on in Gulf and Franklin Counties.
Island lighthouse hosts full moon climb
The January Sunset and Full Moon Climb at the Cape St. George Lighthouse will be Friday, Jan. 6, beginning at 5:30 p.m. and running until 7:30 p.m. Fifteen-minute time slots will be allotted for each group on a first-come, first-served basis; no advanced reservations will be taken. The cost is $10 per climber for the general public and $7 for members of the St. George Lighthouse Association. All climbers must be at least 40 inches tall to climb the tower.

First Friday Sip and Shop

Crooked River to hold climb Friday
The Crooked River Lighthouse will host a Full Moon Lighthouse Climb on Friday, Jan. 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. in Carrabelle. There will also be fun entertainment with karaoke night, with guests invited to share their vocal skills, with prizes for best single act, duo act and group act. In addition, an extraordinary one-night performance by a unique Kiss tribute karaoke group, complete with outfits, will be presented. The lighthouse is just west of the Carrabelle Public Beach Park at 1975 Hwy 98 W. Meet the Editor
David Adlerstein, The Apalachicola Times’ digital editor, started with the news outlet in January 2002 as a reporter.
Prior to then, David Adlerstein began as a newspaperman with a small Boston weekly, after graduating magna cum laude from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. He later edited the weekly Bellville Times, and as business reporter for the daily Marion Star, both not far from his hometown of Columbus, Ohio.
In 1995, he moved to South Florida, and worked as a business reporter and editor of Medical Business newspaper. In Jan. 2002, he began with the Apalachicola Times, first as reporter and later as editor, and in Oct. 2020, also began editing the Port St. Joe Star.
