Local cooks uphold great Southern cooking
I’d like to give a shout-out to Ms. Jeannie Banks Walker for the beautiful person that she is. Jeannie is a kind-hearted person who is always hooking up delicious and tasty recipes. Last week I had the pleasure to taste one of them. Being a seafood and pasta lover, I had her crab spaghetti, something I’d never eaten before. It was absolutely delicious, not to mention her other famous dishes. Jeannie is from our small town but has a heart as big as Texas. She likes to share her yummy Southern dishes with her ‘Cola friends. Thank you Jeannie for including us in your circle of friends; you are loved in the community.
Another Apalachicolian I would like to include is Miss Deanna Simmons, also known as D.T. Everyone who knows D.T. knows that she loves to garden and is also a great cook and baker. I stopped by one Sunday and had Sunday dinner. Her tender roast carrots and potatoes, along with some other sides, and her mouthwatering roast just melted in your mouth. I have the recipe to her sweet potato pies.
Keep up the great Southern cooking! The ‘Cola loves you too.
