Wandering Star Quilters make donations

Hi Y’all,

I hope that you all had a wonderful Mother’s Day even if it was only to think of others on that day.

The Lanark Village Association board has decided to continue with meetings to which the members are invited. These meetings will be held the first Monday of the month at Chillas Hall starting at 6:30 p.m. Members are encouraged to attend. As the by-laws for this organization seem to be a topic, members can stop by Chillas Hall, Monday through Friday between 9 and 11 a.m. to get a copy of the present by-laws. An email was sent out to the membership with a copy of the proposed new by-laws. If you are a member of the LVA you might want to look at what is being proposed to compare.

The Lanark Village Wandering Star Quilters presented a donation of $2,093 to the Franklin County Senior Center at their May 9 luncheon. A separate quilt was also donated to the Center for a future benefit raffle. Raffle proceeds from the March 16 Coastal Quilt Show and the April 27 Airing of the Quilts made this donation possible. The guild thanks everyone for their support and generosity.

On Saturday, May 11, the LVA had their monthly “Fresh Finds Market.” This event will continue through the summer as an offering to the community. Please continue to support this activity to keep it going. Of the two events there has been little to no profit made as the organization is trying to provide good prices.

The Lanark Village Golf Club had its last meeting of the season. They will resume regular meetings in October. There will be activities advertised during the summer. The Lanark Village Boat Club will be having their meeting on Thursday, May 16 at 6:30 p.m. The board conducts their business before having discussions with the members.

On Saturday, May 17, they will be having their monthly pancake breakfast, the times are 9 to 11 a.m. The American Legion Riders Chapter 82, Camp Gordon Johnston has sponsored and constructed a flagpole in a concrete base to hold the American Flag at Arabella Health and Wellness of Carrabelle (previously known as St. James Rehabilitation), located north of the St. James Bay Resort. This flag raising ceremony will be sponsored by the center on Monday, May 20 at 3 p.m. This is extremely important to the residents who are veterans. All are welcome to this special ceremony to show your support for our veterans.

NOTICE: Friday Night Burgers at the Legion has changed their hours to 6 to 8 p.m. Still the best burgers in town!

Love Lanark
