Woman’s body pulled from submerged vehicle
The body of a Georgia woman was found Thursday morning, June 13, in a submerged SUV off the Timber Island Boat Ramp in Carrabelle. Judy Cooper, 77, of Tifton, Georgia was found inside the vehicle, shown above in the water, along with that of her cat, after it was pulled from the Carrabelle River.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said the vehicle may have run off of the ramp sometime between 4 and 6 a.m. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement was called to the scene to help with the investigation.

Prior to then, David Adlerstein began as a newspaperman with a small Boston weekly, after graduating magna cum laude from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. He later edited the weekly Bellville Times, and as business reporter for the daily Marion Star, both not far from his hometown of Columbus, Ohio.
In 1995, he moved to South Florida, and worked as a business reporter and editor of Medical Business newspaper. In Jan. 2002, he began with the Apalachicola Times, first as reporter and later as editor, and in Oct. 2020, also began editing the Port St. Joe Star.
