Decorate your golf cart Saturday for Fourth of July

Hi Y’all, I have been out of town and I missed writing my articles.

Lanark has some great things coming up. On Tuesday, June 25 at the American Legion on Oak Street, Tasty Tuesday welcomes John Jeremiah to be the entertainment from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be something tasty (tacos) available from 5 to 7 p.m. All are welcome.

On Tuesday you will miss one of Lanark’s favorite residents, Johnathan Brucker, who supplied the tacos for the Legion a couple times a month. He was the creator of several special events, working with the Legion and the Lanark Village Golf Club, such as the Easter egg hunt, Halloween truck-or-treat, and the St. Patrick’s Day golf cart parade. He formed a Facebook group he lovingly called “The Village Idiot”. Among many other activities, he worked tirelessly with the non-profit organization, Aaron Meals, that distributes meals to those in need. Johnathan has a new adventure, still helping people and the environment; he is moving to Jacksonville for a new job to become a part of the US Army Corps of Engineers. Congratulations and you will be missed.

On Wednesday, June 26 Bingo is in full swing again at Chillas Hall on Heffernan. Sponsored by the Lanark Village Association, the event opens at 6 p.m. with games starting at 6:30 p.m.. Refreshments are available for purchase. This event is for ages 18 and over.

Lanark residents Hope Stewart and Christina Gomer are opening “Salty Shenanigans Farm Store” in Carrabelle across from George Sands Park, Wednesday, June 26. Open times are Wednesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday, 7 to 11 a.m. Microgreens grown on site, fresh bread, produce, and lots more. Best of luck!

Thirsty Thursday is going strong through the summer. Come join the fun and good food. Bring a dish to share and whatever you want to drink to Chillas Hall at 5 p.m., eat at 6 p.m. Best way to meet new people.

On Friday, June 28, have a burger (cheese or not) from the Legion, 6 to 8 p.m. $10 donation for burger, fixings and chips. Take-outs available, call 850-697-9998.

You can start your Independence Day celebrations with the Lanark Village Golf Club golf cart parade on Saturday, June 29. Let’s decorate Fourth of July crazy and be at the parking lot on Heffernan across from Chillas Hall at 4 p.m. There is an entry fee of $20 to cover prizes. The carts, scooters, bikes (the kind you peddle), etc. are welcome and will parade through Lanark and down Oak Street ending up at the Legion for judging for cash prizes, music and dancing. There will be food available for purchase. All welcome to this event.

Heads up! The Legion in Lanark will be setting up a booth on Wednesday, July 3 morning in Apalachicola to sell “walking tacos” during the festivities. Any veterans or friends who might be able to help, please call the Legion at 850-697-9998 after 4 p.m. any day.

Love Lanark!
