Solomon to serve second term on state chamber board

The Florida Association of Chamber Professionals installed its 2024-25 board of directors during the board meeting at their annual conference Sept. 24-25 at the Marriott Boca Raton at the Boca Center, Boca Raton.

John Solomon of the Apalachicola Bay Chamber of Commerce was selected to serve his second term on the board, which is the governing body responsible for overseeing the operations of the association, whose mission is to advance excellence in chamber management in Florida.

He was also appointed by the board as the new chair of the Northwest Florida Region, which encompasses Jefferson County to Escambia County.

Solomon was unable to attend the conference because of the impending Hurricane.

During the awards ceremony, Solomon received FCCP (Florida Certified Chamber Professional) designation, following an application process consisting of essays, continuing education in the chamber field, leading discussions about chamber-related topics, and being endorsed by peers. He was one of four directors to receive this designation this year, which included John Lai of Sanibel Captiva Chamber of Commerce and the current chair of Visit Florida.

During the awards ceremony, Solomon also received his 10-year service award, as Oct. 6 is his 10-year anniversary at the Apalachicola chamber.

“John has done an incredible job over the last 10 years, and we want to congratulate him on 10 years at the helm and becoming an FCCP. We want to congratulate him, the board, his staff, and volunteers for all their accomplishments.” said Donna Duncan, president of the Apalachicola Bay Chamber of Commerce.

During the marketing awards section of the ceremony, the Apalachicola Bay chamber won two marketing awards.for the CVB Communication / Marketing Materials for the 2024 Area Map, and for the Audio / Visual / Online Category for the social media and TV commercial Campaign of Invitation and Appreciation.

This makes 13 FACP marketing awards the Apalachicola chamber has won in the past six years.

“As exciting as it is to look over the awards that John Solomon has earned with his team over the past 10 years, it’s no surprise that he once again brought home the FACP Marketing Awards; this time last month he brought home a coveted Visit Florida Flagler for the first time to the Apalachicola Bay Chamber of Commerce,” said Duncan. “He works hard and is devoted to our community. When some are relaxing and enjoying their family, John is still thinking about how he might make our paradise on earth, the paradise everyone else wants to enjoy but also protect for the future.”
