Republicans join in community prayer service
At a community-wide prayer service Oct. 17 at Redemption Point – Eastpoint Church of God, the Franklin County Republican Party joined in praying for fair elections, for the county and for defeat of Issues 3 and 4, which call for placing in the Florida constitution the right to an abortion and for use of recreational marijuana.
The service was organized by the church’s pastor Larry Sterling, with participation by Jeff Stricklan, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Apalachicola, and from Wade Blevins, with the Carrabelle Christian Center.
“It was non-partisan,” said Rick Watson, the Republican state committeeman. “Churches can take positions on amendments, and everyone wants free and fair elections.”
Watson said the county party has distributed 600 Trump-Vance yard signs and ordered another 100. In addition the local party has given out 100 signs each for the campaigns of State Sen Corey Simon, U.S. Sen. Rick Scott and U.S. Rep. Neal Dunn.
He said the party is calling voters who vote by mail, and has lined up poll watchers for early voting.
