Seahawks victorious vs. PSJ at jamboree

Under sunny skies Saturday morning, Franklin County Youth Football  took two out of three contests on the field in Carrabelle against Port St. Joe at the season-opening Jamboree.

In the opening Peewee game, coaches Darrian Turner, and assistants  Scott Kelly and Levi Odom engineered a 22-0 shutout of the Buccaneers.

In the  Tiny division, the team coached by Lelon Gilbert, and assistants Jonathan Brown, Matt Roberts, Jacob Montalbano and Ryan McClain, fell by the same score to the visiting Jaguars.

In the third game of the morning, the Teeny squad, coached by
Buck Melvin with assistants Bubba Mashburn, Dale Butler, Trey Millender and Larry Hatfield, won 14-0 over the Dolphins.



This  Saturday, Sept. 25, Franklin County plays host to Liberty, and then after a bye week, they travel to Blountstown.

All games start with Peewee first @ 10 a.m. Tiny follows @ 11 a.m., and Teeny @ Noon.

David Adlerstein, The Apalachicola Times’ digital editor, started with the news outlet in January 2002 as a reporter.

Prior to then, David Adlerstein began as a newspaperman with a small Boston weekly, after graduating magna cum laude from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. He later edited the weekly Bellville Times, and as business reporter for the daily Marion Star, both not far from his hometown of Columbus, Ohio.

In 1995, he moved to South Florida, and worked as a business reporter and editor of Medical Business newspaper. In Jan. 2002, he began with the Apalachicola Times, first as reporter and later as editor, and in Oct. 2020, also began editing the Port St. Joe Star.
