Wewa edges Franklin County 4-3

The Wewahitchka Gators stayed undefeated in district play with a 4-3 victory at home over Franklin County  Thursday night. 

After both teams anted up two-run first innings, the Seahawks jumped ahead 3-2  in the top of the third. The Gators then did one better in the bottom of the inning. 

For the next four innings the teams played to a scoreless tie. on the softball diamond.

The victory lifts the Gators  to a 4-1 record, while the Seahawks fall to 2-2.



Franklin County tagged winning pitcher senior Halley Guffey for eight hits, including a 3 for 3 night, with one RBI and one stolen base, for sophomore Taylor Mallon.  Guffey fanned 12 Seahawks for the night.

Losing pitcher Sarah Ham gave up nine hits, including three to senior Kylie Parker, who drove in two runs and scored twice. Ham struck out three.
