Lady Seahawks down Munroe for first win

The Lady Seahawks varsity girls soccer team got its first win of the season, on the road Dec. 6, against Quincy Munroe.

Eighth grader Wendy Bernabe scored two goals, and sophomore Jade Lively one, as Anna Bull’s squad triumphed 3-1 to up their record to 1-6-1. Eighth grader Brookly Klink had six saves as goalie.

“We kept the ball on offense the majority of the game, with at least a dozen more opportunities to score,” said Bull. “It was a great game for strikers to get a little more action and let a few of our younger players get more playing time.”

At home on Dec. 8 against Port St. Joe, the team lost 4-0.

“We played a really solid game,” said Bull. “St. Joe is always a strong team and despite the score, we felt like we really played a good game. They have incredibly solid passing, something we are still working on, but were still able to create quite a few offensive opportunities.

“We controlled possession for the first 20 minutes or so before St. Joe started picking up speed,” she said. “We’re looking forward to playing them again on Thursday.”
