Lady Seahawks ride four-game win streak

The Franklin County Lady Seahawks varsity basketball team has opened strong, going 4-1 to start the 2023-24 season.

After an opening 48-26 road loss Nov. 21 to Arnold, Jordan McNair’s squad has reeled off four straight wins on the road.

On Nov. 27, it was a 44-28 victory at Wakulla over the Lady War Eagles, and then three days later, a 38-29 win at Taylor County.

On Saturday night, the Lady Seahawks downed North Bay Haven 38-24 and then on Monday night, it was a 40-26 win at Bay against the Lady Tornadoes.

While the stats are so far not complete through five games, preliminary indications are that McNair will get balanced scoring from his squad, led by junior Mahala Griggs, who is averaging about 12 points per game, followed by freshmen Sa’ryiah McNair and Gregreyauna Griffin at about seven points per game, and sophomore Thamia Thomas and freshman Efredia Wesee each about five.
