Sometime either late the previous night, or in the early morning of Saturday, March 30, someone drove a Subaru pickup truck at top speed through the security gate at the Carrabelle-Thompson Airport, destroying the gate, its operating motor housing and the post with the surveillance cameras. Bruce Graham, a Port St. Joe resident who flies out of the airport, said it appears the driver of the truck did not try to stop on their way through the gate, and backed up into the surveillance camera pole, spilling antifreeze on the ground. Carrabelle Police Chief Robbie Hogan said the truck has been recovered and that it appears to have been stolen from the owner. The investigation is ongoing.
