Blackmon to perform Saturday at Holy Family
Beautiful Bobby Blackmon showcases his electric mix of soul, gospel, Southern, delta, Memphis, and Chicago blues, along with rhythm and blues and rock-and-roll staples this Saturday, Feb. 8 at the Holy Family Senior Center in Apalachicola.
Beautiful Bobby has opened for BB King and Buddy Guy, and backed Lou Rawls, Z Z. Hill, Little Esther Phillips, Etta James, Jimmy Reed, Johnny Taylor and others. His vivacious performance and mastery of the guitar backed by the B3 Band, with Ed Krout on keyboards, Davi Bynes III on drums, and Jimmy Seay on bass, is sure to have the place hopping.
Beautiful Bobby has four CD releases and his music is available on many streaming services. This is his first time performing in Apalachicola and he is popular on the central Florida music circuit. Pre-concert tickets are available through Eventbrite at www.inconcertapalachicola.org for $20 each or at the door for $25. Or you can reserve a table for eight for $500, benefiting the Elder Care Community Council of Apalachicola. The show is presented by the Ilse Newell Fund for the Performing Arts as part of its 40th annual concert series. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. for the 6 p.m. performance at 203 Seventh Street in Apalachicola.
Meet the Editor
David Adlerstein, The Apalachicola Times’ digital editor, started with the news outlet in January 2002 as a reporter.
Prior to then, David Adlerstein began as a newspaperman with a small Boston weekly, after graduating magna cum laude from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. He later edited the weekly Bellville Times, and as business reporter for the daily Marion Star, both not far from his hometown of Columbus, Ohio.
In 1995, he moved to South Florida, and worked as a business reporter and editor of Medical Business newspaper. In Jan. 2002, he began with the Apalachicola Times, first as reporter and later as editor, and in Oct. 2020, also began editing the Port St. Joe Star.
