Derby quilt raffled for Tonyas Hope
Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers! Even if you are Mom to your fur babies.
This article is going to be short and sweet. Quite frankly I don’t have much to write about that you don’t already know.
The Lanark Village Golf Club sale was a huge success. We are so appreciative to all those who volunteered to help, those who donated and those who came to buy. We do get pleasure out of being able to offer this service while helping our community beautify the surroundings. Nola Tolbert, the club president, will be giving lessons on the course on Friday, May 13 at 10 a.m. To play a little golf, and to learn a lot, will cost only a donation of $5. Come have some fun!
I do not have much positive to say about the St. James/Lanark Volunteer Fire Department or the Island View Park. It always seems to be one step forward and two steps back. I do want to say “Thank You” to the Carrabelle Fire Department for coming to Lanark for a fire that was started carelessly.
The American Legion Post 82, on Oak Street in Lanark Village, is selling chances on a beautiful quilt to commemorate the 148th annual Run for the Roses, the Kentucky Derby, on May 7. This quilt was artfully crafted by Teresa Bookwalter to benefit Tonya’s Hope, a non-profit that helps with costs faced by local residents fighting cancer. Please buy your tickets to help support the sweet cause.
Everyone in the Lanark area should be proud of the rich history that surrounds our area. I am sorry that I was not able to attend the Florida Department of Historic Resources survey conducted by Terracon. The meeting was set for Wednesday, May 4 at the C-Quarters Marina in Carrebelle at 6 p.m. Please try to show the pride that we have in our history.

Meet the Editor
David Adlerstein, The Apalachicola Times’ digital editor, started with the news outlet in January 2002 as a reporter.
Prior to then, David Adlerstein began as a newspaperman with a small Boston weekly, after graduating magna cum laude from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. He later edited the weekly Bellville Times, and as business reporter for the daily Marion Star, both not far from his hometown of Columbus, Ohio.
In 1995, he moved to South Florida, and worked as a business reporter and editor of Medical Business newspaper. In Jan. 2002, he began with the Apalachicola Times, first as reporter and later as editor, and in Oct. 2020, also began editing the Port St. Joe Star.
