Boat club hosts pancake breakfast Saturday

Hi Y’all,

I missed writing my article while I was out of town. I was also delayed because of the weather. I was pleased to see that there were only limbs down and not much damage at all to Lanark.

The Lanark Village Golf Club canceled their yard sale for August but will continue in the future. Donations will be accepted at the September sale. Speaking of the golf club, shuffleboard, yes, shuffleboard has become another fun thing that the club does. It’s not on a regular basis so watch for announcements on Facebook. Hot dogs might be offered during play. The club also has disc golf, $5 and nine-hole golf, $10 for all-day play.

The Lanark Village Association had a great day at the monthly Fresh Finds Market held the second Saturday of each month, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Chillas Hall in Heffernan. They have many vendors and continue to add more. From fresh vegetables to all kinds of baked goods, goat cheese and jams, beautiful crafted items. coastal décor and more. Put this event on your calendar and shop in air-conditioned comfort.

The American Legion has changed their times for Friday Night Hamburger back to 5 to 7 p.m. ET. Same great cheeseburgers and they have added chicken sandwiches (most of the time). Sunday Pizza and Tasty Tuesday are still the same times. On Saturday, Aug. 17 John Jeremiah will be entertaining you with his music from 6 to 8 p.m. and H & D Eatz food truck will be there about 5:30 p.m. serving their “Soul Food” to go. Call 850-697-9998 with any questions after 4 p.m. every day. All are welcome.

The Lanark Village Boat Club will have their monthly pancake breakfast this Saturday, Aug. 17 from 9 to 11 a.m. Always great and the best deal in town. All are welcome. There will also be a boat club board/members meeting on Thursday, Aug. 15 starting at 6:30 p.m. The board will conduct their business meeting first, ending with any questions or comments from the members.

We have a new food choice in Lanark. Route 98 Diner is open for your food pleasure. It is a food truck located on Highway 98 and Putnal (at the historic spot of Putnal Station). The days and hours are Mondays, 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 to 9 p.m.; Thursday through Saturday 5 to 10 p.m.; and Sunday 5 to 9 p.m. Cash only.

There is still a fire ban ordered by the Franklin County commissioners. Your St. James / Lanark Volunteer Fire Department continues to grow and excel weekly. There were many hurdles to jump until this fire department was ready to be fully operational, but the volunteers have overcome what was required of them to have a functional, healthy fire department. As a community, it is our job to stand behind them and let them know that we appreciate them and will be ready to support them in what they need. When they call, we should come running, just like when we call, they come running to help us.

Thanks goes out to Commissioner Cheryl Sanders and the other commissioners and the sheriff’s department for standing by our community.

Love Lanark!
